Life Sciences: UB CAT Now Accepting Applications for 2016-2017

The UB CAT program provides hard-to-find funding and support for life sciences ventures and is seeking applications to particpate in the program in the year ahead.

The program drives the growth of firms using biomedical and bioengineering technologies and helps companies access UB researchers, assets, and facilities. UB CAT provides project cost-share support for R&D activities involving a company and a UB researcher with clear project deliverables that have significant potential for economic impact.  The cost share is 1:1 for companies with fewer than 100 employees.

Incubator companies including YouFirst, HeadsUp, and Energy Intelligence have used the program in recent years.  This is a powerful tool to fund critical development steps and connect companies to UB.

The UB CAT will award matching funds to eligible projects including:

  • New product development
  • Product design & optimization, including prototype development
  • Testing services utilizing specialized equipment
  • Validation and quality control
  • Clinical trials
  • Research & Development
  • Other projects supporting commercialization
